Gabriele Leite - guitar
Master in musical performance from the Manhattan School of Music (New York/USA) and DMA student in Music Performance at Stony Brook University under the guidance of João Luiz Rezende, Gabriele was selected as one of the 30 celebrities under 30 by Forbes Magazine in 2020. In 2022 she received the award: “Segovia and Rose Augustine” by the Manhattan School of Music. Gabriele is one of the biggest highlights of the new generation of Brazilian guitar.
Graduated in music from the UNESP Institute of Arts, she has excelled in several festivals, contests and institutions, among which it is worth mentioning the contest “Lilian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition” in 2021. In 2020, she was elected by the popular jury as Young Talent in the Concert Grand Prize and semifinalist of the international 2019 Koblenz guitar, from which she received the “Best Brazilian Participation” mention. In the chamber music scene, she was part of the Abayomi Quartet, playing with the great internationally known artist Badi Assad. In addition to her solo career, the guitarist also works as a chamber musician within the guitar duo with the guitarist from Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Gutteres.
With Camilla Silva, Nicolas Porto, and Octávio Deluchi, she is co-founder of BCGC – Brazilian Classical Guitar Community, a platform for publishing and broadcasting online recordings by Brazilian composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Vicente Paschoal, and Elodie Bouny.
Gabriele was nominated by the Brazilian Consulate in New York to perform at the concert of opening of the inauguration ceremony of Brazil for the 2-year term of the Council of UN Security. She made the musical opening of the gala dinner of the Event “Person of the Year 2022”, organized by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York/USA.
In June 2022, Gabriele and Eduardo will tour Brazil presenting 10 concerts in 3 states. She participated in concerts in several places, such as the SESC Chamber Festival, Odeon Performing Arts (New York/USA) Brazilian Embassy (New York/USA), Astor Piazzolla Music Conservatory (Argentina), and Brazilian Embassy (Argentina), among other music festivals such as the Koblenz International Festival (Germany), Campos do Jordão International Festival (São Paulo), Assad Festival (São João da Boa view) and Festival Vermelhos (Ilhabela).
In 2018, she won national guitar competitions like the National Guitar Competition Assovio Vertentes, XXII Musicalis National Guitar Competition, and XXIX Guitar Competition Souza Lima. In previous editions of the Souza Lima and Musicalis competition, she won in other categories (II and III) and in the Chamber Music category. Since 2016 it has beenawarded a scholarship from the Magda Tagliaferro Foundation and Sociedade Cultura Artística, obtaining regular classes with professor Paulo Martelli.
Gabriele is an international scholarship holder of the Sociedade Cultura Artística and since April 2020, sponsored by string brand Augustine Strings (USA), using the model. Augustine Regal/Blue (High tension).
She was the first classical guitarist listed in the Forbes magazine under 30 edition 2021. She currently resides in New York (USA), where she is pursuing a DMA in Music Performance at the prestigious Stony Brook University as a TA under the guidance of João Luiz. Gabriele holds a bachelor’s in music from the UNESP Institute of Arts in São Paulo and a Master’s in music performance with honors from the Manhattan School of Music. Gabriele was the first guitarist to win the prestigious Magda Tagliaferro Scholarship, promoted by Sociedade Cultura Artística. She has excelled at several festivals and competitions in Brazil and abroad. Recent highlights include her performance of the Villa-Lobos guitar Concerto at Sala São Paulo conducted by Luiz de Godoy with the São Paulo University Orchestra and the chamber music competition “Lillian Fuchs Competition” with guitarist Eduardo Gutterres.
Gabriele Leite is an international fellow of the Sociedade Cultura Artística and, since April 2020 she has been sponsored by Augustine Strings, using the Augustine Regal/Blue (High Tension) model.
